The Hippy Part Two: Steal the Graphic Right off of Your Shirt

Do graphic designers congregate annually to talk about what theme they will all embrace each year for collective blandness? Seriously. It appears that originality is on short supply in our little niche of the wild kingdom. See if you can spot the common theme among these items Yup, that would be the Grateful dead's "Steal Your Face". Now, I think skulls are as cool as the next guy and thanks to all the tie dyed glory floating around out there we're going through another hippy resurgence without any of the free lovin'. But, this is a bit much.

to it kind of fits your On the other hand I've seen everything from the Volkswagen symbol, to the Batman insignia to the Powell symbol in there many years back. I still don't fully get the Grateful Dead as a cultural icon. I saw them back in 1991. It was enjoyable. Then the beer ran out and the jams were a bit tedious. I gradually left the venue made my way back to a campground and listened to a Fugazi or PE cassette (I forget which...) until my friends joined me. That being said the album American Beauty is pretty spot on. However, despite my nostalgia and rambling there's really no need for all of this. Vans, sure OK, I get it. Organika hippy image. Converse...OK I'll give you the Chuck Taylors. But, nobody else. Anybody else rolls out a Steal Your Face shirt you'll have to hang out with these people.
